National ESAR-VHP volunteers discuss their experiences with the program and their motivation to help. The Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP) is a federal program created to support states and territories in establishing standardized volunteer registration programs for disasters and public health emergencies. Los Angeles County Disaster Healthcare Volunteers-LA County Surge Unit (formerly known as LA County ESAR-VHP) is part of this federal program.
